If you peruse the shelves of your local grocery store or favorite nutrition store, you will notice that there are a lot of protein shakes for weight loss available. However, protein shakes for weight loss are not all the same. If you are looking to lose weight effectively, choosing the best protein shakes for weight loss is critical.

For many people, Revival soy shakes are the best protein shakes for weight loss for a number of reasons…

20 Grams Soy Protein… Soy protein is a high-quality, complete protein that contains all the 9 essential amino acids in the right balance to meet your body’s needs. The amount of soy protein in each Revival soy shake helps make them the best protein shakes for weight loss because it helps you feel full and satisfied, which in turn helps you reduce the urge to snack between meals and late at night.

Low Glycemic Index… Revival soy shakes are low glycemic, which means it won’t cause a rapid rise in blood sugar after eating them compared to high glycemic foods. This may also help reduce hunger cravings.

Calorie Level Options… Another reason that Revival soy shakes are the best protein shakes for weight loss is that they come in three sweetener options, fructose, sucralose, or unsweetened. The sucralose-sweetened shakes contain only 115 – 120 Calories, while the unsweetened soy shakes have only 90 Calories. These shakes help you get the protein you need while keeping calorie levels down and allows you greater flexibility in your other daily food choices to meet your caloric needs.

Not Genetically Modified… Unlike many leading retail brands that use genetically altered soybeans because they are less expensive, Revival soy shakes (and all Revival soy products) are made with certified genetically pure (non-GMO) soybeans. The comfort of knowing that you are consuming a non-GMO drink also makes Revival shakes the best protein shakes for weight loss.

Heart Healthy… After carefully reviewing human clinical studies on soy, the FDA concluded that diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 25 grams of soy protein a day may reduce the risk of heart disease. This amount is easy to achieve with just one Revival soy shake, which gives you 20 grams of soy protein.

Younger-Looking Skin, Hair, and Nails… Revival soy shakes also are the best protein shakes for weight loss because they have also been shown to fight the visible signs of aging with regular daily use. The results of this study demonstrated improvements in the appearance of skin, hair, and nails after 6 months of Revival consumption, with some benefits being noted as early as 3 months.

Whether you choose to use Revival soy shakes as your primary weight loss plan or as part of any popular weight loss plan, Revival soy shakes are clearly the best protein shakes for weight loss.

Revival soy products make a delicious way to support a healthy body weight. So, start losing weight now with Dr. Tabor’s Revival® soy protein shakes, bars, snacks, and other delicious products.

With the weather warming up, schools letting out, and summer nearly in full swing, many of us will find ourselves going to neighborhood cookouts or picnics in our favorite parks. For many of us that means salads. A good salad is a great addition to any cookout or picnic. In the spirit of summer cookouts, here’s the recipe for one of my favorite salads.

INGREDIENTS

1 bag Revival Soy Penné Pasta

1 Whole Small Fryer (or favorite cuts of chicken)

2 scoops Revival Plain Unsweetened Soy Protein (use more if needed)

2 tbsp olive oil (or as much as needed to lightly coat chicken)

½ red bell pepper, chopped

½ yellow bell pepper, chopped

½ cup sweet pickles, chopped

½ onion, chopped

2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped

2 tsp mustard

Salt (to taste)

Pepper (to taste)

DIRECTIONS

Cut up the chicken, lightly coat with olive oil, and season with Revival’s Plain Unsweetened Soy Protein. Salt and pepper to taste. Bake chicken at 350 oF and cook until done (depends on the size of the fryer, check temperature with a meat thermometer). Afterwards, cool and remove the meat from the bone.

Cook one 12-oz bag of Revival Soy penne pasta as directed. When pasta is done, set in large bowl of ice water.

When pasta and chicken are cool, mix with other ingredients. Arrange bowl or tray with lettuce and place salad on top. Garnish with parsley flakes and serve.

Whether it is for an upcoming Independence Day cookout or whenever you are in the mood for a family picnic, I hope you will enjoy this delicious, nutritious, and protein-packed salad recipe.

When we think ‘soy’ we generally think of its two major components, soy protein and soy isoflavones. Research on the possible benefits of soy for the relief of hot flashes, night sweats, and other common menopause discomforts have looked at either soy isoflavones alone or soy protein that contains the isoflavones. To date, the great majority of these studies have reported that soy protein with its isoflavones intact and purified soy isoflavones alone both help alleviate hot flashes, night sweats and other menopause discomforts. New studies continue to examine the benefits of soy for menopause discomforts in an attempt to look at specific populations and to determine the amount of isoflavones needed to provide the best menopause relief.

The most recently published study examined the possible benefits of soy isoflavones on hot flashes, night sweats and other menopause discomforts in overweight postmenopausal women [1]. For this study, 45 overweight (BMI > 25) postmenopausal women consumed 100 milligrams of soy isoflavones daily for 90 days. Hot flashes and general menopause discomforts were measured before the study volunteers started taking the isoflavones and again at the end of the study.

After the end of the 3-month study period…

The percentage of women with hot flashes, the number of hot flashes, and their severity were reduced in overweight postmenopausal women consuming 100 mg soy isoflavones daily.

Based on the Menopause Rating Scale, general menopause discomforts were lower after consuming the isoflavones.

This new soy and menopause research continues to show the benefits of soy for common discomforts associated with menopause. While it is impossible from this study to determine when the study volunteers started seeing an easing of the their hot flashes and other menopause discomforts, benefits were clearly seen by 3 months of daily soy isoflavone use. Additionally, the effective amount of soy isoflavones in this study was 100 mg of the aglycone form, which is equal to about 160 mg of total isoflavones. Interestingly, this is similar to the amount of soy isoflavones in one Revival soy protein bar or soy protein shake. Results from a peer-reviewed, published study at The Johns Hopkins Hospital found that consuming one serving of Revival Soy daily can reduce hot flashes and night sweats by nearly 40% in just 12 weeks [2].

While this study shows the benefits of soy isoflavones for menopause relief, you can only get the full health and nutritional benefits of soy by consuming soy foods like Revival soy foods that contain both the soy protein and the isoflavones.

Start experiencing fewer menopausal discomforts with Dr. Tabor’s Revival® soy protein shakes, soy protein bars, snacks, and other delicious products.

Perimenopause is a natural stage of a woman’ life during which hormone levels, particularly estrogen, begin to decline naturally and gradually due to a slowing in the production of these hormones by the ovaries. This can typically start in a woman’s late-30s to mid-40s and can last for several years. While this change during perimenopause usually goes unnoticed in the beginning, declining estrogen levels eventually reach a point where women start to experience irregular menstrual periods as well as signs often thought of as belonging solely to menopause itself. These perimenopause (and menopause) discomforts include hot flashes, night sweats, difficulty sleeping, mood changes, and more. Unfortunately, perimenopause can last for several years and officially does not end until a woman misses 12 consecutive menstrual periods, at which point she has reached menopause.

The most common way for many women to ease their journey through perimenopause is to take birth control pills, which help to regulate menses and ease discomforts like hot flashes and night sweats. However, lifestyle changes can also be utilized to help complete this menopausal transition. In addition to getting plenty of exercise, dietary changes can be beneficial for most women. One of the best dietary choices a perimenopausal woman can make is to add soy foods to their diets. Soy foods, like soy protein shakes and soy protein bars, are an excellent source of protein and soy isoflavones. Numerous research studies have now shown that soy protein shakes and other soy foods can help lessen hot flashes, night sweats and other common discomforts associated with menopause and perimenopause [1]. However, the research shows that the results are sometimes inconsistent because different women experience different levels of perimenopause discomforts and different soy foods provide different levels of support.

This makes it important to choose the best soy foods for you. Revival® soy protein shakes have been clinically tested to help reduce hot flashes, night sweats, and other common discomforts that come with perimenopause and menopause [2]. Results from this study showed that women experienced significant reductions (about 40% on average) in hot flashes, nights sweats, and other discomforts by simply drinking one of Revival’s soy protein shakes every day for 12 weeks compared to the discomforts they experienced before drinking Revival soy protein shakes.

If you are starting to experience the common discomforts associated with menopause and perimenopause, like hot flashes and night sweats, and don’t want to take prescription medication, choose clinically tested Revival soy protein shakes to ease your menopausal transition.

Start reducing hot flashes and night sweats now with Dr. Tabor’s Revival® soy protein shakes, soy bars, soy snacks, and other delicious products.

Here is one of my favorite green bean casserole recipes…

Sour Cream N’ Onion Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients

4 cans French style green beans, drained

1 tsp garlic salt

1 tsp onion salt

2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

3 bags Revival Sour Cream N’ Onion Dream baked soy protein chips

1 can chicken corn chowder soup

Directions: Mix the green beans, garlic salt, onion salt and Worcestershire sauce in a microwave-safe baking pan and microwave for about 10 minutes. Remove from microwave and pour soup on top; mix thoroughly and microwave for an additional 8 minutes. Remove from microwave and top with Revival Sour Cream N’ Onion Dream baked soy protein chips. Microwave for a final 1 to 2 minutes. Top with sour cream if desired.

This is a wonderfully delicious way to enjoy the nutritional benefits of soy protein chips. Enjoy with friends and family or bring it to your next office party; everyone will thank you for it!

The right soy protein bars are an excellent source of protein, soy isoflavones, and other important nutrients. Getting enough protein is an important part of proper nutrition. The new 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans indicates that adult men and women should consume 0.8 grams of good quality protein per kilogram (or 2.2 pounds) of body weight and that protein should make up 10 – 35% of our total calorie consumption as adults. Soy protein bars are made with high quality protein that provides all the essential amino acids in adequate amounts to meet our nutritional needs. Therefore, soy protein bars can be a convenient and delicious way to help meet our daily protein needs.

As we age, many of us find it more difficult to do simple, every-day activities like housework, preparing meals, doing laundry, shopping, and more. Studies have suggested that this might be due to the natural loss of lean muscle mass as we age. It is thought that getting enough high quality protein in our diets might help older individuals more easily accomplish their daily tasks. Previous studies have reported that soy protein supports more lean muscle mass in fitness programs, suggesting that the protein in soy protein bars might support our ability to do normal daily tasks.

A new research study explored this possibility in women over 65 years of age [1]. Nearly 600 women were asked about their daily consumption of legumes and soy foods and about their ability to do a variety of daily tasks including grooming, housework, preparing meals, doing laundry, going outside, shopping, and more. The results of this study showed that women who ate legumes and soyfoods 1 – 3 times per day found it easier to accomplish daily tasks compared to women who ate legumes and soyfoods less than 1 time per week. Legume and soy food consumption did not appear to help with more difficult tasks like dressing and washing. Overall, these results suggest that legumes and soy foods, like soy protein bars, can be a good source of protein to help make some daily tasks easier for older adults.

It is uncertain from this study, whether the benefits observed were solely due to soy foods or legumes or the mix of legumes and soy foods. Additionally, it is uncertain whether soy protein or soy isoflavones have independent effects that help make it easier to accomplish some daily tasks. Therefore, choosing soy foods, like soy protein bars, that provide adequate amounts of protein as well as adequate amounts of soy isoflavones is the best approach to adding soy to your diet. Revival soy protein bars provide 20 grams of protein and about 160 milligrams of soy isoflavones, thereby providing a convenient and delicious way to obtain the full nutritional benefits of soy.

Soy protein foods come in a variety of forms and flavors to suit just about everyone’s tastes and needs. Soy protein foods can include items like soy burgers, tofu, soy shakes, soy bars, soy pasta, soy snacks and much more. While soy protein foods can be eaten by just about everyone to meet their daily nutritional needs, it often seems like many endurance athletes do not realize that soy protein foods are an excellent choice for optimizing their workouts.

While many fitness enthusiasts focus on carbohydrates for their energy source during endurance exercises (running, cycling, etc), there is a growing awareness that combining carbohydrates with protein can optimize performance. Research studies have suggested that by consuming carbohydrates combined with protein before or during exercise fitness enthusiasts can boost performance and enhance muscle recovery. While most of the research has focused on whey protein, one new study shows that soy protein provides the same fitness benefits for endurance workouts (1).

In this study, recreational cyclists were asked to ride at stationary bike for 60 minutes at 60% of their maximal oxygen consumption, after which they were asked to complete a time-to-exhaustion ride at 90% of maximal oxygen consumption. The riders were provided with either [1] 60 grams of carbohydrates, [2] 52.5 grams of carbohydrates plus 15 grams of soy protein, or [3] a placebo every 20 minutes during their ride. Compared to the placebo, the carbohydrates + soy protein improved endurance by 84% and increased time to exhaustion from 4 minutes to 7.5 minutes. Furthermore, the combination of carbohydrates + soy protein boosted endurance by 37% and increased time to exhaustion by approximately 2 minutes compared to the carbohydrate alone.

This study clearly shows the benefits of soy protein foods for optimizing endurance workouts. While most soy protein foods could likely provide these benefits, getting 15 grams of protein as used in this study (or more if needed) is typically easier with soy protein foods like soy bars and soy shakes. Soy bars and soy shakes can easily provide this amount of protein in a convenient, easily carried form, making them ideal for your next bike ride. Additionally, soy protein is rich in branched chain amino acids, which have been reported to help fuel our muscles and help delay muscle fatigue.

Whether you are a recreational athlete or more serious athlete, consuming carbohydrates combined with soy protein foods like soy bars and soy shakes can optimize your endurance workout. Revival soy bars and soy shakes contain 20 grams of protein, making them an ideal complement to your fitness activities.

Start enjoying the nutritional benefits of soy with Dr. Tabor’s Revival® soy shakes, soy bars, snacks, and other delicious products.
